Giving back 

Employees

• CP's Giving Engine - Our employees share the belief that it is important to give back to the communities in which we all live, work and play. With this in mind, we are proud to offer our employees the Giving Engine. The Giving Engine is our charitable giving website that puts all CP employees in the engineer’s chair. Employees can donate to a registered charity of their choice and CP will donate an additional 50% - up to a corporate match of $1,500/year.
• Volunteerism - As an integral part of CP we encourage our employees to volunteer and make a difference in their community. Throughout the year, employees donate hundreds of hours to charities and not-for-profit organizations
• United Way - CP and its employees are long-standing supporters of the United Way. With CP matching employee donation at 50% it means that together we annually donate more than $1 million to local United Way campaigns across our network. In 2010, employee volunteers in more than 20 locations held their own unique and creative fundraising events to collect an additional $150,800

Regional Donation Fund (RDF)

CP’s RDF program allows the six regions across our network to establish strong relations with community members and stakeholders by funding opportunities that exist in communities at a local level. For 2011, CP has allocated over $200,000 to support the regions and their donations to local charities across our network.

Disaster relief

Whether locally or around the world CP is committed to providing support to our neighbours in times of disaster and crisis. In 2010, CP donated $50,000 to registered charities assisting with the earthquake relief efforts in Haiti and matched over $20,000 in donations made by CP employees.
