For decades, Canadian Pacific has provided customers with the efficient, reliable and safe movement of metallurgical and thermal coal. To meet our customers' needs, we offer unit train, block and single-car service to major facilities in Canada, and bulk terminals in the U.S.
In Canada, coal moves west from customers like the Teck in southeastern British Columbia over the 1,330-metre high Rogers Pass, to Port Metro Vancouver for export throughout the world. We also move coal to steel manufacturers in the Great Lakes area. Our service is based on highly efficient unit trains in continuous motion through the mine-port transportation cycle.
In the U.S., we receive coal from connecting railways serving the thermal coal fields in the Powder River Basin in Montana and Wyoming, then deliver to power generating facilities in the Midwest U.S.. We also serve petroleum coke operations in Canada and the U.S. where the product is used for power generation and aluminum production.
