"Find what defines you other than a uniform. Stay fit. Get any support you need. Don't underestimate your own value."
After completing his BA in Political Science at McGill, Spencer had an ambition to explore the world and serve his country. He spent a total of six years in the British Army as a light infantry officer, commanding a rifle platoon in Afghanistan and then leading various small unit training teams in Iraq and Somalia. Training to safely serve in these intense missions built leadership qualities where he could dynamically manage multiple challenges at the same time. Seeking a new challenge and wanting to return home to Canada, he completed his MBA at Haskayne School of Business.
When he was ready to look for a civilian career, CP's Veteran Recruitment Program connected him with several veterans at CP to learn about how his comparable skillset could set him up for a lifetime career with many opportunities. Currently training as an Assistant Trainmaster through the
Veteran Management Trainee Program, he's enjoying the fast pace of learning and the constant challenge to improve personal and operational performance.
