CP's acquisition of the Central Maine & Quebec Railway (CMQ) gives us access to key Atlantic ports. Our network gained 481 miles of additional track in Canada and the U.S., with five short line connections and two port connections at Saint John, N.B. and Searsport, M.E. We also have access to ten new transload locations that service numerous commodities.

VPC Worker

  • Flexibility with design and spacing for automotive, with the ability to configure the terminal to suit the needs of customers including creating a Vehicle Process Centre (VPC).
  • Capable of handling roll-on/roll-off vessels, with the ability to load rail on-dock and convert existing general cargo space for automotive fleets.
  • Automotive compounds in Port Saint John allow vehicles to be easily distributed across the Maritimes.

Through the acquisition of the CMQ, we now offer access to ten additional transload facilities that serve a variety of commodities, extending our reach into Quebec, Vermont, Maine and New Brunswick.

​The Port of Searsport has become a major shipping destination for wind energy developers. Searsport provides materials handling in many areas, including bulk, break-bulk, heavy lift and liquid transfer.
