Canadian Pacific (CP) today announced that Sheryl Crow and Sarah McLachlan will be joined by Tom Cochrane with Red Rider, The Tenors, Great Big Sea, Matt Dusk, Natalie MacMaster and Take 6 in celebrating the 15th anniversary of the CP Holiday Train. These a-list stars will help CP raise further awareness for charities that help fight hunger in Canada and the U.S.
“Since 1999, our Holiday Train has raised $7.4 million dollars and more than 3 million pounds of food for local charities,” said E. Hunter Harrison, CP’s chief executive officer. “I thank these internationally-renowned artists for joining us in shining a bright spotlight on this important issue.”
Details of the signature events, which include the concert and on-site activities, are as follows:
Prior to each concert, these communities will be able to experience The North Pole Station, a magical village which will feature family-oriented interactive activities, ice carving, hot chocolate and a chance for the kids to visit Santa before making their way to the concert stage.
While the events are free, those attending are asked to make a donation or bring non-perishable food items. Everything collected at each show stays in the community for local distribution.
These signature events are part of the 2013 CP Holiday Train program, which runs from November 25 until December 19 and features two brightly decorated trains travelling across Canada and the United States.
